Two recent newspaper articles recognize the work of Herbert Dreiseitl as he transforms a a neglected historical park in Portland, Oregon. Real all about it in MetropolisMag and Landscape Architecture.

Looking back, Abbate says, “We were able to have both ecological function and good urban design. We didn’t have to sacrifice one for the other.” He notes that Tanner Springs is a provocative park. “The dialogue is just beginning.”

"Having the urban fabric on one side and nature on another in the form of a big park or wildlife refuge, that's an older concept," Dreiseitl agrees. "I believe we have to bring sustainability into cities in a decentralized way, more like steppingstones. And I think nature itself works like this too."
